Your company can support its very own area of the Royal Parks year-round with one of our Conservation Zones. Help keep the Royal Parks beautiful and bursting with life every day!
What you get
Our unique corporate volunteering programme provides your company with the opportunity to sponsor your own area of the Royal Parks, and to get your team out of the office and into the fresh air on a series of Park Days.
Your own Conservation Zone
Through volunteering in your own zone over a year, your team will feel an extra sense of pride and commitment for the work they undertake and its positive impact now and in the future. We have Conservation Zones of all sizes in most of the Royal Parks, and with eight Royal Parks stretching across London there's likely to be one just a stone’s throw from your office.
Bloomberg, BNP Paribas and Benugo have already signed up as partners, and you can find out how they support us below.
On our Park Days your team gets stuck into practical outdoor activities to help to sensitively manage the historic parkland. Each Conservation Zone requires specific habitat management, like working with the Royal Parks Shire horses to manage wildflower meadows.
We can host groups of between 8-40 individuals, for either half a day or a full day, and no prior experience is needed to participate.
On a Park Day you receive:
- Team captain briefing ahead of the day (site visit or phone call)
- Risk assessment production and on the day health and safety briefing
- Drinks/refreshments and a picnic lunch for each volunteer
- Management of the day with appropriate supervision, including a qualified first aider
- Provision of all tools, equipment and personal protective equipment as required
- Full insurance cover for the activities taking place
Sponsorship fees for Conservation Zones vary. Please get in touch by filling out our corporate volunteering enquiry form or contact Tess, our corporate volunteering manager, on 0300 061 2279.
Our corporate partners
Bloomberg currently sponsor the Buckhill Meadow Zone in Kensington Gardens. During 2016 we welcomed 200 Bloomberg volunteers throughout the year – this commitment and support has been vital in allowing us to manage this precious habitat in a traditional and less intensive way.
- 14 Park Days
- 200 volunteers
- Meadow management activities alongside the Royal Parks Shire horses
Benugo, the café chain, sponsor the Nursery Zone in Hyde Park for 2017. So far we've welcomed 50 employees to help us improve an area of woodland surrounding the Nursery. As a team they removed seven trucks worth of non-native shrub species and planted 100 young trees and 4,500 plugs in their place. Benugo’s support has allowed us to greatly improve this habitat for the many invertebrates and birds that call Hyde Park home.
- 4 Park Days
- 50 volunteers
- Woodland management, with tree and wildflower planting
What Benugo say
“The chance to get our hands dirty in the outdoors was a real treat, and a really rewarding experience for the whole team. We’ve sponsored a whole zone, so we’ve had the opportunity to send multiple groups down to the area to help clear and plant it over several days so far this year. To get out of our everyday roles and work together has been a huge collaborative effort and is already a source of immense pride. Giving back to an organisation as prestigious, and yet as accessible to all, as the Royal Parks is a wonderful opportunity – that’s what makes it so meaningful to us.”
Tim Axe, Commercial Director at Benugo
As part of BNP Paribas’ UK Community and Charity Programme, two Conservation Zones were sponsored in The Regent’s Park during 2016. Concentrating on wetland and meadow management, we welcomed 76 enthusiastic BNP Paribas employees over seven Park Days. Tasks included hedgerow planting, grass cutting using a traditional scythe, wildflower meadow creation and bench restoration. This year long commitment was of huge importance to the park managers, completing work that otherwise would not be possible.
- 2 Conservation Zones
- 7 Park Days
- 76 volunteers
- Wetland and meadow management
What BNP Paribas say
"BNP Paribas is very proud to support The Royal Parks and the fantastic work they do to protect and promote London’s Royal Parks. Each summer they provide us with fun and challenging projects in Regent’s Park. The projects give our employees the chance to do something different to what they do on a day-to-day basis and the opportunity to get out into the park, get their hands dirty, and do their bit for the environment."
Emma Tucker, Internal Communications Manager at BNP Paribas
